Steven George Gerrard, born on May 30th 1980 in England, has always been passionate about football, and about playing for Liverpool. Since the age of 9 when he joined the Liverpool Academy, it was his dream to be a professional football player for Liverpool Football Club. His many trials were unsuccessful for years, and he even tried out for Manchester United's team in order to pressure Liverpool into offering him a Youth Training Scheme contract to have him fully trained by the time he was old enough to play professionally. He was offered a contract by Liverpool in 1997 for a professional contract when his dreams were finally realised. |

Gerrard made his first Liverpool appearance in 1998, playing against Blackburn Rovers as a last minute substitute, and following this, made thirteen appearances during his first season. His first international appearance was in 2000, and since then he has taken Liverpool to extraordinary lengths, both within the UK Premier League, and European Leagues. He was part of Liverpool winning The FA Cup, the UEFA cup, as well as the Football League Cup, which are just part of the honours that he has contributed towards. |

One of his most well-known achievements was scoring the opening goal in the Football League Cup Final against Manchester United in 2003, where they won the match 2-0. It is achievements like this, among others that lead to Gerrard becoming Vice Captain and then Captain of Liverpool, which was a lifelong dream of his.

Gerrard demonstrates huge loyalty towards Liverpool, and even turned down a £20 million offer from Chelsea FC, to remain with Liverpool, as he would never want to be competing with the team that he passionately loves and gave him the opportunity to play. Although he loved Liverpool, he recognised his need for change, and rather than supporting an English team, Gerrard took a job on the LA Galaxy Team, where he would not be in competition with Liverpool, where his loyalties are still at. If you had the chance to watch Gerrad playing for the Reds you won't be able to forget his stylish, proffessional football game.
